This week, Back to Eden Group sent a financial gift of $1,200 CAD to our friends in the Philippines, Eddie and Gerson Deita, to assist with their efforts to provide aid to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan which struck the Tacloban area in early November of this year.  This gift will enable them to provide much needed school supplies and food later this month when their team travels to the disaster area.

The gift was made possible by donations to Back to Eden Group by blog subscribers and S.E.E. Program participants.  All of your donations are used to support worthwhile efforts such as this one, emerging itinerant ministers around the world, Back to Eden Group events and the ongoing expenses associated with our website.

While there are many worthy Philippines typhoon aid efforts underway to provide support to the Filipino people, for some it is important to see a direct connection between their donations and the people on the ground in the disaster area.  Our family has a personal relationship with Eddie and Gerson and our son Caleb has visited them and stayed in their home several times.  They are people of integrity, holding down multiple jobs, operating small businesses (internet cafe and grocery store) in addition to their ministry responsibilities.  They also employ many teens in their grocery store so that they can eat and attend school.  We are confident that they are Space Invaders (see the Space Invaders blog to understand) and are making a difference in their nation.

At Back to Eden Group, we are committed to help people who are already actively helping others and stewarding the resources they have been entrusted with.  Gifts such as this put our core values of Relationship, Stewardship and Dominion into action.

If you’d like to contribute additional funds to this effort or to Back to Eden Group in general, you can do so through the donations option in the bottom right hand section of most pages on our site.
